Instructions to make Dalma:
- Wash the chopped vegetables properly.Wash the fried moong dal & soaked it for few mints & then drain the water.
- Take 3 tsp cumin seeds & 3 dry red chiies & dry roast them in a fry pan.Grind them into a fine powder.
- Cook fried moong dal, chopped vegetables, salt,turmeric powder in a pressure cooker along with 6 cups water for 2 whistles.
- Then switch off the flame.Open the cooker when all the steam has been settled.
- Pour ghee in a nonstick kadai & add the cumin seeds.Allow the seeds to crackle then add the dry red chillies & bay leaf.
- Then add the chopped tomatoes, ginger paste, turmeric powder, salt & mix them well.
- Add the cooked dal & vegetables with the roasted masala.Add a bit of water if required.
- Cover & cook for another 5 mints.Then switch off the gas & sprinkle the cumin & dry red chilli powder.
- Pour some ghee over it.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or phulkas.
